Leitura obrigatoria

Daqueles que nao conseguimos largar: "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas", do John Boyne. Confesso que fui pela capa. Nao tinha ideia do que se tratava e, talvez, tenha sido melhor assim. A cada palavra, uma descoberta. A cada pagina virada, uma surpresa. Pesquisei o titulo em portugues e nao tive sucesso - o que talvez indique que o livro nao tenha sido lancado no Brasil ainda. Mas fiquem de olho e ignorem a sinopse, so' dessa vez, e partam direto para a primeira pagina.

Castelos da Irlanda viram hoteis de luxo

So para constar... materia publicada hoje (23.02.2007) no site do Terra, sobre alguns castelos do interior da Irlanda que foram transformados em hoteis luxuosos e ja' receberam pessoas [ia colocar "celebridades" ou "famosos", mas achei um pouco demais] como Michael Jackson e George Bush.

Valentine's Day

Sei que deveria postar em portugues por aqui, mas recebi este e-mail e decidi deixa-lo assim mesmo. Numa pesquisa, perguntaram a diversas criancas, com idades entre quatro e oito anos, o significado da palavra "amor". Deem uma olhada na profundidade das respostas e na sinceridade dos sentimentos.

And the final one: author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry".
